It is that time of the year again for Fencing at Tama! Here we got together to try a new game called "Mug Fighting". In this game, you play in a free for all style, trying to kill your opponent. However, if he still has water in his mug, he walks to the sidelines, where the Marshal puts him back into the battle. So, the trick is to hit your opponents mug first, spilling the water. That way, when you kill him, he can't come back into the battle. It is a very good 'Tip Control" exercise. First we circle our blades...
Then we take 5 steps back...then "On Guard!.......Lay On!"..........
Here I face off against "Hiro" a Japanese fencer. He spent some time at the University of Hawaii studying Theatrical Fencing.
I make a poke at Alan's mug, while he pokes at mine. You are not allowed to put the mug behind your body, cover the top of it, or hide it behind your hand.
A closeup shot of a near miss to my mug.
Adam on the left, Alan on the right fighting it out.
A close in clash of blades...

Now for Team Mug Fighting. Red Team on the right is ready!
Blue Team on the left is ready!
Later we do some group flag fighting. The goal was to put your flag into the other sides flag stand...

Time for lunch. Here we all raise our glasses as a toast to Captain Tora!
With our Knives raised, we all toast to all the Black Tigers around the world!
Here Lord Vail fights with a brace of daggers.
Having lost his left hand, Lord Vail moves in for a head shot to win the duel.
Blocked to the head...
But his opponents remaining hand is now gone...so he wins!
We also did some heavy Fighting. Here I am in my heavy armor.
Here I fight with Lord Vail..
Lord Vail loses a leg...but I think he still killed me a second later...
Just a picture of beautiful Japan....
